About Me

Hello! I'm glad you found me!

My name is Phoebe, but you can call me Aero!

So, who are you, really?

Well I'm creative and love to create art in various forms! Primarily user interfaces or anything digital, but I like drawing too!

I really like making glossy user interfaces and icons especially, what a lot of people refer to as Skeuomorphism or Frutiger Aero. It's a pretty difficult artstyle to master, but it is incredibly beautiful, and I like to dabble in it once in a while. I'm also quite fond of other styles, such as Y2K and Neomorphism. In general, I prefer glossy and futuristic styles!

I also like to compose music! I really like creating trance/dance-esque tracks, because of how much nostalgia they invoke. I also like to compose in other genres, but I'm not as well-versed in that.

I mainly like to compose my music in MIDI format, and its limitations make it all the more fun! I also occasionally use Ableton Live to make sound effects, but that's mostly all. I also made a few modules in various trackers, but I find their text-based UIs to be rather clunky and tedious to use...

Finally, I also like coding! I'm pretty good at Python and Java so far, and I have created various little apps, but nothing big yet...

Where can I find you?

I'm mostly active on Reddit and Tumblr. I also have lots of links on Reddit to other websites that I inhabit, like ModArchive, WinCustomize, etc. But in general, these are the main two.

What do you like?

I'm really into vintage tech! Mostly 90s-2000s operating systems and mobile phones. Were they clunky and unintuitive? Sometimes, yes, but each one had its own charm to it.

For operating systems, I'm mostly interested in Windows 9x, XP, and Vista/7, and any other semi-obscure OS like Haiku, for example. And don't forget the good ol' MS-DOS! With phones, I'm mostly into Nokia phones, but Sony Ericsson phones have peaked my interest lately.

I actually have some old phones myself! If you're interested, and are nerdy enough to read through all of this, here they are:
  • Nokia 3220 - The one I've had the longest. It's the coolest phone I have right now, and have lots of memories of using it!
  • Nokia 6670 - No idea why I've bought this one, really
  • Nokia 7210 - The oldest phone I currently own!
  • Nokia 7270 - One of the most stylish phones I have, and it's the basis for my comic's artstyle. Unfortunately, its vibra motor is quite weak and screeches often, and its microphone isn't connected properly.
  • Nokia 2730 Navigator - I guess you can call this one a sort of heirloom, because it's both been used by my father and grandfather. Unfortunately, I don't have a battery for this one.
  • Nokia 7510 Supernova - Pretty modern foldable phone, both in design and UI. Can't say a lot about it, but its subdisplay looks really nice.
  • Nokia 3200 - It looked nice, so I bought it. Haven't really used it though.
  • Nokia 7360 - Some really nice design on this one! I used to test out a few of my own themes on it. It's not in a great state, having issues detecting the SIM card and suffering the same vibra motor issues as the 7270.
  • Nokia 7373 - Got this one in pink and did not regret it. The most beautiful phone I've ever seen or used. I like to bring it with me to use as a camera!
  • Maybe I'll buy a Nokia 7900 Prism soon...?
Maybe I'll add some more of the things I like here in the future, but right now I need to take a bit of a break. Sorry.
